Xavier's Gateway To The World
The School and Institute are just 25 miles from the cultural centre of the world, New York City, and about a million miles from your ordinary prep school or junior college experience.
Your Future Is Within Your Reach
Enrollment to Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning is extremely selective; most students are actually sought out by our teachers and administration and are invited to attend. Fortunately, a generous endowment allows us to open our doors to students from all walks of life and economic situations; most students attend the school with the benefit of our sliding scale tuition program and some attend on a full scholarship. This allows not only to enroll the best and brightest students, but also those who will most benefit from what our program has to offer. We thank you for your interest in Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters and The Xavier Institute, and hope that you will consider us an option as you make your educational choices.
Expect The Extraordinary
Here at Xavier's Institute we strive to provide gifted youngsters with the specialized education and training they need. The school was founded in 1989 by Charles Francis Xavier, who has served an uninterrupted 15-year term as headmaster. From it's humble beginnings as exclusive academy for a handful of special students, it has grown into a full-fledged center of learning: a college preparatory program among the finest in the country and recently added an accredited junior college program. The programs have a combined student body of approximately fifty students per year.
The Xavier Institute
The Xavier Institute provides the best, first step to higher education for the exceptional young mind. Fully accredited by the State of New York, the Institute provides an intensive, engaging array of classes in a wide variety of disciplines, as well as guided independent study programs to help young adults make the best of their first years of college. The rock-solid educational foundation and extensive career guidance work provided by the two or four year program at The Xavier Institute will be invaluable to the student planning a more lengthy educational career in medicine, law, or advanced applied science.
Though many students attend The Xavier Institute after graduating from the School for Gifted Youngsters, the Institute accepts enrollment from any high school graduate or student able to demonstrate equivalent learning experience.
History and Tradition
Both of these outstanding programs are housed in our state of the art facility in upstate New York, about 25 miles from New York City. The mansion was formerly the Xavier family home, and has been in the Xavier family for 10 generations. It was constructed by a Dutch seafaring ancestor out of local stone from the edge of Breakstone Lake and has been listed on the Register of National Historic Places since 1964.
The stately building may look ancient, but it has kept up with the times; it's been wired for electricity, and other modern amenities, all the while still retaining its historic charm.
The estate's gated, private grounds cover an extensive area between Graymalkin Lane and Breakstone Lake, and contain stables, a boathouse and an Olympic sized swimming pool directly to the rear of the mansion. In addition, the building houses a full gym, track, and shared and private rooms.
In addition to the unparalleled learning opportunities, Xavier's provides a wide variety of extracurricular activities, travel, and the chance for your child to interact with a diverse and vibrant student population from all over the world. Friendships made at Xavier's will last a lifetime.
Looking To The Future
These formative years are crucial; this the time that young men and women turn into the people they're going to be for the rest of their lives. It is our solemn duty to assist them in this journey and encourage them to take the right paths. An education rooted in respect, discipline, imagination, curiosity, tolerance can light their way.
